Competitors at the 2013 Ronstan A class catamaran championships were treated to perfect sailing conditions at Davis Island yacht Club in Tampa Florida over the weekend 22- 24 Feb. Conditions were as close to perfect as you can get with Temps in the high 70s and great breeze. Day one saw 15 – 18 kns, day two 18-20 and day three 8 – 12. Pro Skip Ryan and his great team did a fantastic job getting in the 9 race series in efficiently.

Besides the great time on the water the competitors were met with friendly hospitality at the Davis island Yacht Club. Regatta chair Kat Malone and her team did a wonderful job keeping everyone fed and hydrated. As Bailey White from GA puts it “Coming off the water and being served mudslides and beer each day on a platter is not to bad” Sailor and Race committee were also treated to a great BBQ dinner and Drinks on Sat night at Ben Moon’s house courtesy of Ronstan.Racing was close in the 23 boat fleet with the exception of Ronstan’s own Ben Moon (St Petersburg FL) who ran away with 9 wins from 9 races finishing with 8 Pts. 2nd place went to previous class President Bob Hodges (Mandeville LA) 24pts and 3rd to Ronstan customer Ben Hall of Hall Spars (Bristol RI) 41pts. Ben sailed a flawless event over the 3 days winning some races by well over 2 min. Ben attributes the success to having great boat speed, “when you have good speed the rest falls into place” said Ben.
